The Ancient City of Merv




The ancient city of Merv was once the largest city in the world. It was a Silk Road
Metropolis, a major oasis city in Turkmenistan.
The city has prehistoric roots and shows evidence of occupation from as far back as
the 3rd millennium BC historical records also name Merv as a city of importance as far 
back as 550-330 BC.

In Zoroastrianism, one of the world's oldest religions, it is said that the god
Ahura Mazda created Mouru as one of sixteen perfect lands.
